Commercial "opening" of Sunlight Group into China's shipbuilding industry via Lehmann Marine

Athens, October 5, 2026 – Sunlight Group, a member of the Olympia Group and a leader in integrated and innovative energy storage technologies, announces its first commercial partnership in the Chinese shipbuilding industry through its subsidiary, Lehmann Marine.

The partnership aligns with Sunlight Group's strategy to contribute to the transition of international shipping to a cleaner and more energy-efficient operating model. At the same time, it underscores sustained demand for European expertise and advanced technological solutions in the highly competitive shipbuilding centers of Asia, where international safety certifications and high operational reliability are decisive criteria in selecting technology partners.

Specifically, Lehmann Marine, a Sunlight Group company and a specialist in maritime energy storage systems, successfully secured its first Asian deployment with the commissioning of its innovative modular CUBE battery system aboard the state-of-the-art hybrid fast crew boat AESEN 116H. The installation of the system aims to achieve zero-emission electric navigation within ports, as well as a reduction in fuel consumption of up to 40%.

Certified by top international classification societies (BV, DNV, LR, RINA), Lehmann Marine's CUBE system stands out for its modular design, which allows for the inspection or replacement of components directly on board, avoiding costly drydock delays.

"Lehmann Marine’s entry into the Chinese shipbuilding industry confirms Sunlight Group’s strategic choice to lead the electrification and decarbonization of global shipping. Growing demand in Asia for European expertise, innovation, and service throughout the battery lifecycle, opens up significant prospects for a Greek industrial group with a global reach, making this specific partnership a springboard for our further commercial growth in the Asia-Pacific region," stated Lampros Bisalas, CEO of Sunlight Group.

It is noted that the 42-meter hybrid fast crew boat AESEN 116H was built in China by Cheoy Lee Shipyards for Singapore-based Aesen.
